Q:- A car travels with the following speeds with the following durations:
[1] with 14 kilometers/hour for 6 hours
[2] with 17 kilometers/hour for 8 hours
[3] with 16 kilometers/hour for 2 hours
[4] with 9 kilometers/hour for 3 hours
[5] with 15 kilometers/hour for 4 hours
[6] with 19 kilometers/hour for 5 hours
Find [1] total distance travelled , and [2] average speed

Step : 1
Distance travelled in each duration is as follows
[1] 14x6 = 84 kilometers
[2] 17x8 = 136 kilometers
[3] 16x2 = 32 kilometers
[4] 9x3 = 27 kilometers
[5] 15x4 = 60 kilometers
[6] 19x5 = 95 kilometers
Total distance travelled = 84 + 136 + 32 + 27 + 60 + 95 kilometers
= 434 kilometers

Total time travelled = 6 + 8 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 hours
= 28 hours
mean speed = total distance / total time
=> mean speed = 434 / 28 = 15.5 kilometers/hour
