Q:- A car travels with the following speeds with the following durations:
[1] with 17 meters/second for 5 seconds
[2] with 3 meters/second for 9 seconds
[3] with 12 meters/second for 2 seconds
[4] with 11 meters/second for 6 seconds
[5] with 6 meters/second for 6 seconds
[6] with 2 meters/second for 9 seconds
[7] with 20 meters/second for 5 seconds
[8] with 17 meters/second for 5 seconds
Find [1] total distance travelled , and [2] average speed

Step : 1
Distance travelled in each duration is as follows
[1] 17x5 = 85 meters
[2] 3x9 = 27 meters
[3] 12x2 = 24 meters
[4] 11x6 = 66 meters
[5] 6x6 = 36 meters
[6] 2x9 = 18 meters
[7] 20x5 = 100 meters
[8] 17x5 = 85 meters
Total distance travelled = 85 + 27 + 24 + 66 + 36 + 18 + 100 + 85 meters
= 441 meters

Total time travelled = 5 + 9 + 2 + 6 + 6 + 9 + 5 + 5 seconds
= 47 seconds
mean speed = total distance / total time
=> mean speed = 441 / 47 = 9.3829787234043 meters/second
