• Q:- A car travels with the following speeds with the following durations:

    [1] with 6 meters/second for 6 seconds
    [2] with 11 meters/second for 8 seconds
    [3] with 19 meters/second for 8 seconds
    [4] with 14 meters/second for 10 seconds
    [5] with 12 meters/second for 7 seconds
    [6] with 14 meters/second for 8 seconds

Find [1] total distance travelled , and [2] average speed Share to Whatsapp

  • Distance travelled in each duration is as follows
    [1] 6x6 = 36 meters
    [2] 11x8 = 88 meters
    [3] 19x8 = 152 meters
    [4] 14x10 = 140 meters
    [5] 12x7 = 84 meters
    [6] 14x8 = 112 meters
    Total distance travelled = 36 + 88 + 152 + 140 + 84 + 112 meters
    = 612 meters

  • Total time travelled = 6 + 8 + 8 + 10 + 7 + 8 seconds
    = 47 seconds
mean speed = total distance / total time
    => mean speed = 612 / 47 = 13.021276595745 meters/second
