• Q. :- Find the formula of area , and actual area of ground of rhombus shape ABCD , AB = CD = AD = BC = 16 , perpendicular distance between any two sides = 2. Share to Whatsapp

  • Draw diagonal AC . So we have two triangles, ADC and ABC. Perpendicular distance from A to DC = Perpendicular distance from C to AB = H (suppose)
Area of ABCD = Area of ADC + area of ABC
    = 1/2 x H x DC + 1/2 x H x AB
    = 1/2 x H x ( DC + AB ) = 1/2 x H x (AB + AB) = 1/2 x H x (2 x AB) = H x AB
So Area of Rhombus = (distance between these two parallel sides) x (length of one of these parallel sides)

  • Draw diagonal AC . So we have two triangles, ADC and ABC. Perpendicular distance from A to DC = Perpendicular distance from C to AB = 2
Area of ABCD = Area of ADC + area of ABC
    = 1/2 x 2 x 16 + 1/2 x 2 x 16
    = 2 x 16 = 32
